Academy of Business & Fine Arts (BFA)

The Academy of Business and Fine Arts is an academically rigorous program that supports students interested in shaping their creative skills in visual and performing arts, along with those who would like to pursue a career in business. Special courses in this academy include Introduction to Business, Accounting, Web Design, Theater, and Advanced Visual and Recording Arts.

Academy of Health & Culinary Sciences (HCS)

The Academy of Health and Culinary Sciences is an academically rigorous program that will prepare students for the education needed to pursue careers in medicine, dentistry, veterinary sciences, sports and alternative medicine, nutrition, culinary arts, and hospitality. Industry certification or certification preparation is available for EMT, CNA, Safe Food Handler, Dental Hygienist, Home Health Aide, Nutrition and Medical Technologies, and Medical Assistant.

Academy of Law & Public Service (LPS)

The Academy of Law and Public Service is an academically rigorous program that will prepare students for the education needed to pursue careers in law, political science, counseling, psychology, education, public safety, military, criminal justice, and forensic science. Special courses in this academy include Forensic Science, Public Safety, Psychology, Peer Counseling, Debate/Mock Trial, Business Law, Constitutional Law, and Public Speaking.

International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS)

The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences is an academically rigorous program where students explore many aspects of digital media including Video Game Design & Development, Digital Media & Movie Making, 3D Modeling and Animation, Graphic Design, Engineering, and Coding. This project-based learning curriculum will prepare students to participate in an increasingly technological world.

In addition to providing effective and innovative educational practices, New Haven Schools of Choice are designed to foster student enrollment patterns that reflect racial, ethnic and economic diversity.

Families must apply to our schools.  Students are placed in schools through a lottery.

 

Who Can Apply

New Haven residents can apply to any magnet or charter school in the city. Our Interdistrict Magnet Schools are open to all Connecticut residents. There are no admission requirements, tests or prerequisites for our students. We serve special education students, English Language learners, talented and gifted students and everyone else who comes through the lottery to our schools. No student may be denied enrollment because of race, ethnicity or disability.
